The Waldensian Trail of Faith is a non-profit attraction which features 15 full-sized replicas of buildings and monuments still standing in the valleys of Northern Italy and in Valdese. To walk the Trail is to be inspired and encouraged by a story of faith which transcends time. Visitors experience reminders of times in the 2000-year history of the Waldenses when God came to their rescue in truly miraculous ways. The Trail is an amazing story of complete devotion to religious freedom. The history of the Waldenses dates back to when the Apostles traversed their valleys in Northern Italy. During the Dark Ages, the Waldenses suffered martyrdom and persecution for their simple desire to congregate freely and discuss the works contained within the Bible openly. As early Reformists, there were 35 major invasions into their homeland over 200 years to annihilate the Waldensian people. After finally gaining religious freedom in the mid-late 1800s, a group migrated to what they would later name “Valdese” in 1893.
The Trail is a popular place for students, historical buffs, church groups and senior citizens.
